Communications Strategist
Part Time (2 - 3 days per week)
At ourppls, the Communications Strategist leads the strategic direction of client communications across our agency portfolio while also supporting new business growth. This role is central to how we support social impact organisations, charities, and community-led projects to tell their stories with clarity, care, and cultural relevance.
Acting as the strategic lead across multiple client accounts, the Communications Strategist bridges clients, creatives, and internal teams, ensuring every output aligns with client goals, community needs, and ourppls’ mission. This role focuses on strategy, narrative, and impact, guiding delivery rather than simply executing tasks. Blending creative storytelling, audience insight, and data-led thinking, the Communications Strategist ensures our clients’ communications are authentic, inclusive, and effective.
Core Responsibilities
Client Strategy & Account Leadership

Lead communications strategy across multiple client accounts

Translate client goals into clear messaging frameworks and campaign plans

Act as the primary strategic point of contact for clients
New Business & Growth

Support new business pitches, proposals, and discovery calls

Contribute to the development of case studies, credentials, and thought leadership

Help identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and long-term retainers
Audience & Insight

Identify and segment client audiences, ensuring culturally sensitive and community-informed approaches

Embed lived experience and social context into all strategies
Content Direction & Channels

Set content direction across social media, digital platforms, PR, and campaigns

Brief and guide creatives, freelancers, and project managers on storytelling approach and tone
Brand & Quality Control

Ensure all client communications align with brand values, voice, and visual identity

Maintain consistency and quality across deliverables
Stakeholder & Relationship Management

Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and creative teams

Support leadership in client retention and growth
Measurement & Reporting

Track performance and impact across client campaigns

Use insights to refine strategy and demonstrate value to clients
Crisis & Sensitive Communications

Lead or support sensitive communications on behalf of clients when required

Proven experience leading communications strategy for multiple clients

Strong storytelling and writing skills with a strategic mindset
