From The Ground Up – Root 73’s Music Industry Apprenticeship

Root 73 has just opened applications for From The Ground Up — a year-long, paid apprenticeship designed to give emerging creatives a deep, hands-on introduction to the music industry.

Based in Hackney, Root 73 is a nonprofit studio and community arts hub led by local creatives. This apprenticeship is an extension of that mission, empowering 19–25-year-olds to build real careers from the ground up. Whether you're interested in production, project management, visuals, events, or studio operations, this opportunity offers a rare chance to learn from people actively shaping the culture.

The program is split into immersive modules covering:

  • Music production & engineering

  • Visual storytelling & photography

  • Campaign planning & marketing

  • Artist management

  • Studio & hub management

  • Community events & outreach

Each module wraps with a group presentation and a masterclass from a guest expert, helping participants build skills, confidence, and their creative networks.

Ourppls spoke with Asher Korner, co-founder of Root 73, who shared these key tips for applicants:

A group of diverse people stand in a dimly lit room. Overlay text in yellow asks, "What are you looking for in future applicants?"

Black-and-white photo of people in a creative workspace with posters. Yellow text reads "What makes an application stand out?" with detailed description below.

Musicians play instruments in a room with a gridded ceiling. Overlaid text advises avoiding vagueness in music industry applications.

This opportunity is fully funded by Youth Music and is open to London-based applicants aged 19–25. No formal qualifications are required, just a hunger to learn and contribute.

Applications close Saturday, July 20, 2025. For questions or support, contact: info@rootseventythree.com Apply here
