Hey ppl, it’s Gloria here! I’m the community account manager @ourppls and weekly I put together these opportunity round-ups to bring them right to your timeline. I recently moved back to Nairobi after living in London and there’s one thing that has always stood out to me - we creatives don’t exist in a vacuum.
We all play a part in each other’s journeys, be it meeting at a networking event, reposting someone’s latest project or buying from small vendors. So, in that spirit, I thought I’d put together my top picks of opportunities right here at home that we can all tap into!
Kenyan Creative Opportunities
To Kenyan creatives, artists and culture enthusiasts - this one is for you! From music residencies, exhibitions, digital storytelling workshops and even production grants, last week’s #opportunityroundup has got you covered. Check out those that are still open now:
I’d love to hear from you too! What kind of opportunities would you like to see more of? Should we do more country specific ones every so often? Let us know
Global Creative Opportunities
We're here to connect you to our top picks of creative, wellbeing and development opportunities on a weekly basis that could be right for you or your organisation! Here are this weeks top picks:
Our top tips for ourppl looking to apply to any funding or training opportunities:
💐 Make sure you’ve understood the time commitment that is required for you to take part.
💐 Applying as business/social enterprise? How does this opportunity align with your future - make that known.
💐 What is your ‘WHY’ - understanding this will help your artistic voice and unique identity shine through and separate you from other applicants.
💐 Be clear on what you hope to gain or develop - make them believe in you as much as you believe in yourself.
💐 Get a friend or second set of eyes to proof read your answers alongside the application questions/brief. Sometimes someone else will point out a mistake you accidentally overlooked.
💐 If something is not clear - ASK! Contact the organization/group via their respective channels so that you have all the clarity you need before hitting ‘submit’.
